This year marks a significant milestone for Isobelle Adams as she celebrates 10 years with Falcon Timber. What began as a role as an Administrative Assistant within a much smaller team has evolved into a successful career leading operations at Falcon Timber’s berth within the Port of Tilbury. Over the past decade, Isobelle has become a trusted and familiar face across the business, building a reputation for professionalism, leadership and dedication.
Reflecting on her early days with the company, Isobelle remembers arriving for her first day feeling understandably daunted by the challenge ahead. However, those nerves quickly disappeared thanks to the warm welcome she received from colleagues, an experience that helped shape her outlook on teamwork and collaboration throughout her career.
Since joining Falcon Timber, Isobelle has witnessed the business undergo significant transformation. She has seen the company grow, teams expand and technology become increasingly embedded in day-to-day operations. While the scale of the business has evolved considerably, she believes the strength of its people remains at the heart of its success.
“I’ve been fortunate to work alongside some incredible people throughout my time here,” said Isobelle. “The teams I’ve worked with over the years have had a huge influence on my career and supported me every step of the way.”
Among her proudest achievements is not a single project or milestone but the journey itself. From starting in an administrative role to progressing to Operations Wharf Manager, Isobelle takes pride in how far she has come professionally and the reputation she has built across the business.
Today, Isobelle is responsible for overseeing the movement of thousands of tonnes of timber through the Port of Tilbury, ensuring products are received, stored and distributed efficiently to customers across the UK. Her leadership and operational expertise help connect Falcon Timber’s global supply chain with customers, enabling projects to stay on track and products to arrive on time and in full.
Based at the Port of Tilbury, she is at the centre of complex daily operations, coordinating vessel arrivals, stock movements, suppliers, hauliers and internal teams. However, she notes that one of the most important aspects of the role often goes unnoticed
“What people don’t always realise is how connected every department is,” she explains. “Operations is often like a domino effect. If something isn’t ordered correctly, a payment isn’t processed or information isn’t shared accurately, there can be repercussions throughout the supply chain. It really highlights the importance of teamwork and communication across the entire CTH business.”
That collaborative mindset has been shaped by some of the best advice she has received during her career: work hard, be a team player and your efforts will pay off.
Throughout her career with Falcon Timber, Isobelle has overseen major operational developments, navigated industry challenges and supported the growth of the operations function. Her focus has always been on delivering a safe, efficient and dependable operation that supports both the business and its customers.
Outside of work, Isobelle is incredibly family-oriented and enjoys spending time with her loved ones. One of her favourite hobbies is kayaking, a pastime that perhaps shares more similarities with her professional role than first meets the eye. Success on the water requires focus, planning and the ability to adapt quickly to changing conditions, qualities that are equally important when managing a busy wharf operation and navigating the complexities of a modern supply chain.
Interestingly, had she not pursued a career in logistics and operations, Isobelle believes she may have worked as an Executive Assistant in London. Her personable nature, organisational skills and ability to build strong relationships are qualities that would have suited such a role well and continue to be key strengths in her position today.
Looking ahead, Isobelle remains focused on personal and professional development. Having already built an impressive career over the past decade, she is keen to continue expanding her knowledge and qualifications, with aspirations to undertake a higher-level apprenticeship in business and leadership.
