At Falcon Timber, we’re continuing to invest in the tools and infrastructure our teams need to work safely, efficiently and effectively and we’re pleased to see the first phase of that investment now live across our Birmingham and Tilbury sites.

These latest upgrades reflect a simple but important principle for us: when we provide our colleagues with the right equipment, we create a better working environment, improve operational performance and deliver a stronger, more consistent service to our customers.

Strengthening Capability at Birmingham

At our Birmingham site, we’ve introduced a new Combilift multi-directional forklift, designed specifically to handle our long-length engineered timber products.

Working with materials of varying heights and dimensions across the business, can present real handling challenges with standard equipment. This investment directly addresses that. The Combilift allows our team to move and position long loads with far greater control, even in more confined areas of the site.

For us, the benefit is twofold. Operationally, we’re seeing improved efficiency and smoother material flow. Just as importantly, it significantly reduces risk helping to protect both our products and our people.

Modernising Our Fleet at Tilbury

At Tilbury, we’ve completed a full refresh of our forklift fleet, with four new Bobcat machines now in operation.

While our previous fleet had served us well, replacing equipment at the right time is key to maintaining performance and avoiding unnecessary disruption. This isn’t just a like-for-like upgrade, it’s a step forward in capability.

The new trucks have been carefully specified to improve handling, reliability and day-to-day usability. In practice, that means fewer interruptions, smoother operations and reduced risk of damage during routine handling activities.

Supporting Safer, Smarter Working

Across both sites, these investments play an important role in our ongoing commitment to health and safety.

Modern equipment brings clear advantages better visibility for operators, improved manoeuvrability and enhanced safety features all of which help reduce the risk of accidents and manual handling issues. By giving our teams the right tools, we’re creating safer conditions while also enabling more efficient and controlled operations.

Investing in Our Future

This is just the first phase of a wider programme of operational investment at Falcon Timber. It’s part of how we continue to evolve as a business supporting our colleagues, strengthening our capabilities and ensuring we’re well positioned for future growth.

We’re investing in the future not only of Falcon Timber but of the wider CTH Group. This investment represents a coordinated commitment to strengthening our operations across the business, ensuring that each division has the resources, technology and infrastructure needed to remain competitive and continue delivering exceptional service. As part of this broader programme, our manufacturing division, Hoffman Triesse, will also benefit from significant material handling upgrades in due course. By taking a Group-wide approach to investment, we’re creating greater resilience, enhancing efficiencies and building a stronger platform for sustainable long-term growth across all areas of the business.

Ultimately, this is about doing things the right way: investing in our people, maintaining high standards, and delivering consistently for our customers.
